Power to the SHE

Athleta Lovin

As you may have spotted on my last post … I will be running with the Athleta team as one of their sponsored runners for the More Women’s Half Marathon on April 15th, and I am beyond thrilled.  Part of the fun is that I get to scope out their spring line of running clothes and find an outfit to wear for the race … um OK !  Fashion AND Running.  Be still my heart!

Power to the SHE

Yesterday Melissa and I met at the UES Athleta and  were greeted by the vivacious Hilary, the store manager.  If you find yourself in Athleta UES, seek out Hilary and get ready to giggle because she is so much fun!

Hilary led us through the run section of the store

As well as the yoga section.  Many of the yoga tops were made of a performance fabric and could double as running tops.

Immediately upon entering I was struck by the bold colors and vibrant prints.  You don’t see prints on running apparel very often, yes they are always bold in color … but bold in print, not typical.  I fell in love with this little number

Racine Ready to Run Tankini

Its from their triathlon line, meaning that  its made of super performance swim fabric that is SPF 50.  Multipurpose and cute as can be.

I also fell in love with this skort.  First for the laser cut detail, and then for the fit.  It is made of Featherweight Stretch fabric, which pretty much feel like nothing.  Its light as air.  And the undershorts are the perfect length, not too short so that they are basically briefs but not too long so that they peek out.

Laser Cut Skort

I will admit, I had a bit of tunnel vision once I found this outfit, but I did try a bunch of other things on.  You know, for market research purposes.  One top that I found extra amazing was the Energy Tank, with its awesome built in support and super functional back pocket

I also loved the Lap Short, made of the same material as the Laser Cut skort.  But you guys know that I am a dedicated running skirt lover.  Shorts just don’t do it for me.  I heart skirts. What will I be wearing for the More Half?  Well … I have a few outfits to chose from. Stay tuned friends 🙂

For now, I will tell you all that my running wardrobe is a happy, colorful, bold printed place that makes me excited to RUN!

Tell me, have you been to an Athleta lately?  What are some of your favorites?

{I was not compensated for this post. I was outfitted with gear from Athleta. All opinions expressed are my own.}

  1. I’ve not actually bought anything from athleta yet, but I’m seriously considering their wick-it tank and that skirt or the laser cut shorts. Although I have enough running clothing to run every day for a month without doing laundry.

  2. I am a huge Athleta addict and own a TON of things from that store. One look at the gear review section of my blog can tell you that. I am definitely more of an Athleta girl that Lululemon. If I had more money, I think I would buy all my clothes from Athleta since they sell practically everything! I recently got the Swagger Skort and LOVE it. Very feminine and cute. I love their Hana Run Short too, I own several pairs and wear them all the time because they are so great!

    1. I love me some Lulu, but Athleta is taking a piece of my heart. They have a wider selection and some of their clothing is more practical … hm. I feel like I need to apologize to Lulu now. Ha

  3. Athleta is my favorite sports clothes site, hands down! Sadly, I’ve never been to a store… but I have a stop scheduled for my trip to the mainland next month! I love their Presto shorts, swim suits, and bras. Athleta’s va-va bra kicks Lulu’s ta-ta-tamer’s booty!

  4. I have three pairs of the Hana Run Shorts. LOVE them! They are the perfect length and aren’t super dooper swoopy on the sides (read: they hide my mama butt perfectly). Good luck!
