Surprise … I laced up my racing shoes today!
While I am admittedly a little burned out from racing after my Spring Schedule, I was convinced by Meggie earlier in the week to give this race my best shot. After some amount of grimacing at the thought … I actually became excited to see what would happen in today’s UAE Healthy Kidney 10K.
I haven’t raced a 10K since 2008.
UAE Healthy Kidney 10K
June 2008
52:21 (8:25 pace)
Now lets be clear, I have run 5 10k’s between 2008 and now.

4 Months Preggo – ran it but carefully
NYRR Dash and Splash 10K
July 2010
1:14:25 (11:58 pace)
5 Months Preggo – walk/ran due to heat
NYRR New York Mini 10K
June 2011
57:33 (9:15 pace)
Didn’t race this one, took it easy with a friend.
NYRR Joe Kleinerman 10K
January 2012
1:28:44 (14:16 pace)
Walked with the PreggoMamaRunner
But I haven’t raced a 10K in 4 years. Those 4 years have taken me through 4 marathons, 11 half marathons and quite a few shorter distance races. I have become faster, more efficient and smarter as a runner. I feel like I’ve come a long way in the past 4 years … but sometimes there is only one way to tell.

May 2012
47:37 (7:40 pace)
A PR by 5 Minutes.
I have no words … I am just so grateful to see hard work pay off.
Oh and being on the NYRR web site with Meggie is also pretty cool. I believe thats the crowning glory of a New York City runner!
Its a good day … Keep putting in your 100% everyone. The rewards feel incredible.
PS – this is the 3rd race I have fueled with LOVE Grown oat clusters. All 3 have been incredible races for me. I’m just sayin …

Congrats! Great pace! I gave myself a PR for Mother’s Day too – it’s only my 5th 10k ever, and the first one I’ve “raced” since 2003. Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy belated Mother’s Day! Congrats on an amazing race and amazing PR. I think it’s so funny that the NYRR stats say you are from “New York, FL” and not “New York, NY”! Hehe.
Ahk! Speedy mom-zalos! What a great race for you. Congrats!
