The History of a 10K

Surprise … I laced up my racing shoes today!

Fueled by LOVE!

While I am admittedly a little burned out from racing after my Spring Schedule, I was convinced by Meggie earlier in the week to give this race my best shot.  After some amount of grimacing at the thought … I actually became excited to see what would happen in today’s UAE Healthy Kidney 10K.

I haven’t raced a 10K since 2008.

Now lets be clear, I have run 5 10k’s between 2008 and now.

January 2012

Walked with the PreggoMamaRunner

But I haven’t raced a 10K in 4 years.  Those 4 years have taken me through 4 marathons, 11 half marathons and quite a few shorter distance races.  I have become faster, more efficient and smarter as a runner.  I feel like I’ve come a long way in the past 4 years … but sometimes there is only one way to tell.

May 2012

A PR by 5 Minutes.

I have no words … I am just so grateful to see hard work pay off.

Oh and being on the NYRR web site with Meggie is also pretty cool.  I believe thats the crowning glory of a New York City runner!

Its a good day … Keep putting in your 100% everyone.  The rewards feel incredible.

PS – this is the 3rd race I have fueled with LOVE Grown oat clusters.  All 3 have been incredible races for me.  I’m just sayin … :) Dont forget to enter to win your own box of LOVE here
